Workshops: Closing the gap between the theory and the practise.

When this website first came online Robyn Cox, Producer / Director of the ‘Get Ready for School’ DVD and qualified Primary School Teacher, was offering workshops based on the ‘Foundation Skills’ model as shown on the DVD. But a great many changes have happened in the past months.
Sales of the DVD continue to go well. Just recently, negotiations have been completed with the company Ladder of Learning based in Scotland. Ladder of Learning will promote and distribute the DVD in the U.K. Website: www.ladderoflearning.co.uk
Robyn has also been offered a wonderful opportunity to run a ‘Foundation Skills’ classroom at Takapuna Primary School, North Shore, Auckland. (start date April 27th, beginning Term 2). The Foundation Skills programme will reflect the principles from the Get Ready for School DVD.
Because Robyn will be teaching full-time she will no longer be in a position to offer workshops around the country, although, she is still keen to share with you. Her classroom at Takapuna Primary is a working model of a ‘Foundation Skills’ classroom and is open to all - if you wish to visit her you would be most welcome. Just send her an email and she will let the school know that you are coming. Email: robynjancox@gmail.com
Gill Connell, from Moving Smart still offers workshops throughout New Zealand and Internationally. Gill features in chapters three, four and five of the DVD. Check out her website: www.movingsmart.co.nz for information about her PMP courses and Pre-school Learning to Move, Moving to Learn courses.
Louise Dempsey offers support and teacher training for the Smartwords – Word Study programme featured in chapter six of the DVD. Louise can be contacted via email: louisedempsey@ihug.co.nz
In New Zealand we are fortunate to have SPARC’s Active Movement and Active Schools initiatives, which are delivered via the Regional Sports Trusts (RSTs). Active Movement and Active School Advisers work with educators within our schools, preschools, and wider community. Check out the SPARC website: www.sparc.org.nz - select Active Children – select Active Movement or Active Schools. Details are listed for your local adviser contact based at your local regional sports trust.
If there is anything more that Robyn can do to help you get started with a ‘Foundation Skills for Formal Learning’ approach please email her, she would love to hear from you.
Kindest regards,
Robyn Cox
